as the Mind Masseuse. She uses compassion, education
theory, science and plenty of humor to stretch, soothe
and invigorate the minds of executives, teachers,
parents, artists, teens, community activists, and
everyone else she can find. Through her company, Real-World
Mindfulness Training, she has created a trademark
blend of simple, enjoyable and surprisingly powerful
techniques perfect for those who can’t
get motivated to meditate.
She likes to think of her unique
brand of paying attention as “wireless meditation”—you
can do it any time, any place. You don’t even
have to sit still!
Trained in mediation and conflict
resolution, with a degree in psychology and Asian
studies, certification in mind-body fitness, 20 years
of teaching, a passion for the latest neuroscience
research, and a 30-year meditation practice, she has
a robust enthusiasm for tickling out new approaches
to confounding challenges.
Maya recognizes that there are many
ways to learn new information, and that not everyone
is naturally attracted to introspection, silence and
stillness. She teaches how to use your OWN learning
style to incorporate mindfulness into your everyday
